The National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts

2025/2026 Academic Year Master's Degree Programs

The National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts (NACTA) is China’s premier institution for training the next generation of experts in Chinese opera and theatre arts. As the country’s only independent academy of its kind, it holds a distinguished position in Chinese opera education, often referred to as the "cradle of elite Chinese opera talent." We are inviting international students to apply for the 2025/26 academic year Master's degree programs.

At NACTA, we are deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Chinese opera while seamlessly integrating modern art and cultural philosophies. Our focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and global exchange allows students to develop a unique perspective that bridges the past and the future. NACTA is also home to several key centres, including the Chinese Opera Talent Development Center, Chinese Opera Theory Research Center, Chinese Opera Inheritance and Innovation Center, and the International Theatre Exchange and Cooperation Center. Together, our diverse faculty and students, from both China and around the world, are united in the shared mission of establishing NACTA as China’s leading institution and a globally renowned centre for Chinese theatre arts, and of promoting global cultural exchanges and the mutual appreciation of civilizations.

I. The Overall Goal of Our Programs

Our graduates are fully equipped to thrive in cross-cultural workplaces and navigate the rapidly evolving global landscape.
